siblings: our first partners / o- a irmã(o): o/ a primeiro(a) sócio/a! ;)

Siblings in a family with hemophilia have their space too!

And it is a Must. A brother or a sister must get involved in hemophilia in the way that they have to know about the disfunction as much as their brother. They don’t have hemophilia which means that they must have their life and activities that are suitable for them. If they like rugby they ‘ll do rugby, play soccer , practice boxe or play with his brother who has hemophilia in a gentle way with a video game!

What I want to say here is that the fact that one child is allowed to practice an activity and the other one isn’t , can be considered by the family as a good oportunity to work different educational topics as:

differences between people, generosity, tolerance, coping with feelings like envy, jealousy, anger, frustration, creativity…

Let’s realize that who has a family with brothers and sisters learn quicker to share, to negotiate, to discuss issues and find solutions.

All that because a child with hemophilia has partners to deal with in order to get from the parents what they want and need! let’s remember also that siblings unite “against” the parents sometimes! and it is wise from the parents to let this happen.

Ter uma irmã ou um irmão é a primeira experiência de sociedade para alguém dentro de uma familia. A importância dada ao fato de ter um irmão é independente dele ter ou não uma disfunção!

O irmão é o primeiro companheiro diferente de mim mesmo que tem suas peculiaridades, suas qualidades e defeitos…e tenho que dividir com ele ou ela o afeto de meus pais

Se tem hemofilia, ele terá que se adaptar as atividades que lhe são permitidas e benéficas…e o outro irmão que não tem hemofilia deverá também traçar seu caminho e realizar tudo o que puder! pode ser difícil para os pais, ver as diferenças entre os filhos..más CORAGEM, somente permitindo que cada um deles se expresse e se desenvolva COMO PODE E DEVE, somente assím, nós pais podemos criar seres independentes e fortes espiritualmente.

ACEITEMOS as limitações para, a partir delas, fluir nas profundezas da vida nesta terra.

A family that struggled so much: kids growing /Uma familia crescendo

Geovana, 5 years old drew me (the one at the right , the secretary of our center Val and the 3rd one is Lais the voluntary that plays with them. Thank you for drawing so cutely!!

I met Lucimara, in 2000, she was in her early twenties, single mother with a one year-old boy : Guilherme! this little one in the picture…he is now almost 9 and has going through several head surgery  because of internal bleedings when baby.Today, he is a smart kid, goes to school, plays with friends and has a sister Giovana, 5. Lucimara is a woman that I admire a lot.  She  grew up, learned everything she could about hemophilia, she did the course with our nurse Eliane to learn how to infuse factor to her son, she changed job, got a better one, and she is an independant woman.

I remember the first time she was in my little office at the Center and she was always so scared of any  normal movement of her little boy, afraid of everything….well, look at her face now

Conhecí Lucimara em 2000, quando ela veio fazer a sua primeira consulta para Guilherme o filhinho Guilherme, na época com um ano de idade. Hoje , como podem ver na foto ele é um fofo, esperto, leva a vida de qualquer criança de 8 anos! Mas se vocês souberam pelo que ele passou nos primeiros anos de vida: 5 cirurgias na cabeça , veia com acesso difícil teve que colocar durante 2 anos e meio um catéter e tudo isso com a mãe solteira, lutando por um trabalho mais digno, lutando por sua independência e  por uma vida digna. Giovana nasceu ha 5 anos e assim a familia cresceu.

Lembro da Lucimara na sua primeira visita, pulava da cadeira de mêdo cada vez que o Guilherme fazia um movimento !

She is the older sister and she is cute! she wanted to be part of her brother and little friends (remember little ones 1 and 2?) group, because she wants to help him and play with him in a safe way.

Damaris é a irmã mais velha e ela é muito fofa! ela quis fazer parte do grupo de seu irmaozinho (lembram do Grupo dos pequenos 1 e 2)? Ela quis aprender  junto para poder ajudá-lo a conhecer melhor a hemofilia e a brincar de uma maneira mais legal.
