August 28, 2009REHABILITATION : ” process of recovering, restoring….that takes its time.”
Rehab has always 2 sides: the first is that it is an oportunity to fix something. But in order to do that we must recognize that something is not that well and need TIME and DEDICATION to get better.
The sequency is injury-factor replacement-rest-physiotherapy = rehabilitation
Rehabilitation INCLUDEs remembering the situation of getting hurt, to learn what happened.
The other day a young teenager with severe hemophilia A told me that he wanted to understand WHY he bleeded in his wrist if he didn’t do any kind of sport activity, he did nothing???
I told him, that some people had a bleeding after a bad position of a joint (posture during hours of studying, or sleeping) and the fact that he didn’t practice sport acitivity wasn’t in fact something good!! he probably was without muscles strong enough to protect the joint. The most important thing was to take care of the bleeding as quick as possible to avoid joint damage.
Here, Gabriel, 5, severe hemophilia A is doing his rehabilitation with his physiotherapist Dr Luciola from the CHESP (House of the Hemophiliac in São Paulo) after going through a joint aspiration and infiltration of corticoesteroids.
ADRION, IS NOW GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS OF REHABILITATION TOO. HE IS DOING WELL.
