Os cientistas Japoneses  da empresa Suntory descobriram como obter rosas azuis manipulando o DNA claro!isto aconteceu em 2004 e desde então são vendidas para expressar amor .

The opposites : Flowing and Clotting for ever

Our blood is always flowing and clotting, and in this way repairing little or bigger bleedings in our body.

A constant balance is required.

Like in our life, we are always “flowing” or trying to…like on a dancefloor, or when ideas come and flow over a screen or a piece of paper…

and we are “clotting” too when we give form to a project, when we finally decide to “do” something….

It´s a metaphor that i like to use in my life….

When to flow and when to clot….that is A question !

ps: this drawing is made by Cloves a teenager I met at the hospital and was part of a group therapy for 7 years with my coordination.

He was 14 when he did it.

After studying Blood characteristics and clotting he draw what represented to him the opposites in blood.

IN HEMOPHILIA  A  AND  B IT IS DIFFERENT.

THE  NET CANNOT FORM QUICKLY NOR IN AN EFFICIENT WAY…BECAUSE ONE OF THE CLOTTING FACTORS (8 OR NUMBER 9 DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF HEMOPHILIA,) IS MISSING OR NOT FUNCTIONNING CORRECTLY. That’s way the clot delays to form and the bleeding is longer , slow to happen, like a turtle.

Existem meninas com hemofilia? Girls with hemophilia?

A hemofilia quando ocorre em mulheres é geralmente devido a uma mutação genética do outro cromosomo X. Por exemplo. um X é portador do gen da hemofilia e o outro X sofre ao mesmo tempo uma mutação que o faz se comportar como se tivesse também o gen da hemofilia.

é muito raro mesmo isto acontecer!

Eu conheço 2 . Gosto muito de conversar com elas, nos conhecemos há muitos anos.Uma é adulta com três filhos e a outra é adolescente.

A hemofilia é uma disfunção da coagulação muito rara. 1 em 10.000 nascimentos de Meninos para Hemofilia A (falta de fator número VIII) e 1:40.000 nascimentos para hemofilia B (falta de Fator número IX).

O tratamento para as meninas é fazer infusões de fator quando ocorre um sangramento. Também existe a possibilidade de fazer profilaxía: ou seja tomar o fator 2 a 3 vezes por semana para manter o nível da proteína alto no sangue .

Para se ter uma idéia: nosso nível de protéina da coagulação Fator VIII ou IX (para coagular direito) é de 40% a 100%.

A pessoa com hemofilia está abaixo dos 40 % podendo chegar a ter menos de 1% no sangue (caso da hemofilia grave)

One is an adult with 3 children and the other one is a teenager.

Hemophilia is a very rare blood clotting disorder: 1:10.000 BOYS has Hemophilia A and 1:40.000 for hemophilia B.

For GIRLS is even much much more rare…1: million ….it happens because both chromosomes X present an alteration or mutation and the liver (our blood clotting factors Factory) is not capable to produce enough or at all one of the protein.

Sangrando pelo nariz ou Epistaxe

epistaxe1.jpg A FOTO ESTA BONITA MAS A POSTURA ESTA ERRADA. The picture is beautiful but the position in the case of a nose bleeding is wrong. Breath through the mouth, put some ice cubes in a cloth and apply on the nostrils.It helps to contract the capillaries and in that way bleed less. Then press for 5 -10 minutes with your thumb on the side that is bleeding.

Normally it will stop. You can ask your hemophilia center nurse or doctor about some  local clotting substance you can have at home.

Sangrou pelo nariz?

Respire pela boca.

É só apertar com o dedão a narina que sangra por uns 5 a 10 minutos. Aperte firme.

Nada de levantar o braço ou de colocar a cabeça para trás nem para baixo.
Se quiser coloque um pano com uns cubos de gelo na parte superior do nariz. Ajuda a contrair os vasos sanguíneos. Existem também umas soluções vasoconstritores que se compram na farmácia. No caso, molhe um pouco de algodão com a solução e coloque -o na narina.

Normalmente, mesmo numa pessoa com hemofilia , as plaquetas fazem o serviço

Se não parar ligue para seu médico pode ser um vaso sanguíneo maior e isso requer tratamento.

Fizemos uma veia gigante de 2 mts e meio de comprimento, com uma tampa que deixava sair da veia um monte de balões vermelhos e brancos= simbolizando as células vermelhas e brancas…

Hello world! let´s learn with the HEMOACTION, HEMOAÇÃO or HEMOACIÓN

The story of these flash cards called Hemoaction started almost 5 years ago.

I used to draw some images (a vein, a knee from the inside, the fibrin net…) for my patients with hemophilia and for their families, to make it easier for them (and for me) to explain difficult topics about hemophilia.

I decided to ask a friend Pavão (he is a great artist) to draw the images in a sequence that I thought would facilitate the understanding of hemophilia, blood and related topics.

• Hemoação was borned! and…it is in 4 languages: Portuguese, English, French and Spanish.
• Hemoação or Hemoaction is a tool  to learn playing card games. It ´s funny and simple!

Anyone can use it!

Everybody will learn something new about blood clotting and its disorder such as hemophilia A and B.card-15.jpg,Symbol of the slowness in clotting now solved temporarely by the infusion of factor VIII or IX!

When the patients play and see the images, they learn faster and they can remember better difficult terms.

Symbols such as a turtle for slowness in clotting, or a sink plug for the platelets´action are easy to remember.

The feelings of joy, clarity and self-management in education help people to cope better with hemophilia.
