About me / Algumas coisas sobre mim
This is a big moment for me…a dream coming true.
In this case: better late than never! I´m starting to learn how to publish things that I work with, projects that are useful here in São Paulo at Hospital das Clínicas at the Ambulatory of Hemophilia where I work since 1994.
I am a psychologist-psychotherapist. I am a friend of Arquetypal Psychology…..I believe in the power of images , how they talk to us or at least try to….
I got specialized in blood symbolism through the years….got a Master degree in Communication and Semiotics and my dissertation was about my work with a group of youngsters with hemophilia A.
With the years I managed to mix the private clinic experience with the reality of public institution such as an ambulatory service. It´s a very precious experience because I feel that I am a psychotherapist -I am at the psyche service- but with a different “timing”.
At the hospital I have experienced how education and learning tools are fundamental to heal and feel better about the difficulties inherent with living with hemophilia. The more the person knows how to explain in a simple and direct way to others about his hemophilia or other topics related, the more confident he feels .
As a psychologist I value education that forms the individual, informations that help him to feel more in control and therefore in a self-management path.![]()
And we can learn smiling, having fun and feeling wiser…..wiser enough to know that there is always something new to learn.
On a more personal level I ´m happily married with Carlos, i have 3 great children ( Danaê 17, Rubi 11 and Iggy 8). I love to fence, dance and read. To walk and look for shells on a beach too!
One more thing: I am Belgo-Egyptian…I had to say it :): I like to honour my origins, my Belgian mom (ah, all the good food of Belgium….) and my Egyptian dad (ah..the good Egyptian food!)
we like to eat well in our family….

Federica, you are a gift to the hemophilia community! Not only do you counsel children with chronic disorders, but you also find innovative ways to help them understand their disorder, such as creating these cards, and designing this blog. I have visited your center, and can see the large caseload you have, the challenges families in Brazil face. I love how you blend your understanding of Jungian psychology with practical tools to help children. Bravo! Keep up the great work!

Frederica,
Congratulations on an excellent site and blog! Everyone- children with hemophilia and other rare bleeding disorders, their parents, their doctors, their educators and their caregivers - will benefit from your experience, your compassion and your creativity in using the images you do to teach and advocate.
Your use of symbols in educating the public and empowering children with hemophilia is brilliant. You have provided the world-wide hemophilia community with a dynamic and useful tool to get the message out.

Thanks for the comment about my work. In my opinion Art is the core of HemophiliArt productions and now, focusing on your blog I think you have also incorporated an artistic look to hemophilia assitance.
